A STATEMENT FROM THE BUBB REPORT
Today, Torchlight Independent Media, the parent company of the Bubb Report, presented a detailed proposal to Grenada’s two main political parties for a three-part series of public debates between selected candidates. The debate series would be moderated by Torchlight Independent Media founder Dr. Kellon Bubb and senior partner Kitaka Mawuto.
We believe that public debates are an essential tool in democratic societies, as it has the potential to turn people into more active participants by involving them in the democratic process. Citizens of Grenada will have a say in the debates about matters concerning their lives in the development of their country. The public would be invited to submit questions on vital national issues. These fundamental issues will ve advertised once both parties agree to appear. This public debate would be conducted in a free, fair, and unbiased format. The Bubb Report team hopes it will be an opportunity for both major parties to articulate their plans and programs in this structured format.
The weekly hybrid public debate is proposed to be aired live on various media platforms in Grenada. The media event is currently scheduled to be two hours in duration, with an opportunity for public feedback through written questions and video submissions. Torchlight Independent Media suggested further to both parties that the subject matter experts will be drawn from the pool of all fifteen candidates who can articulate their respective parties’ views on these issues.
